About CWOAA

Motto:

The motto of the CWOAA follows that of CWON: Love, Light, Unity and Peace.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:

  • To enhance peace, unity, mutual understanding and love amongst members of CWOAA as an Organisation and all Catholic Women.
  • To conduct and engage in activities that will help in the attainment of spiritual growth of members of the Organisation subject to the church authority.
  • To uphold and defend the tenets of the Christian faith and the Catholic doctrines.
  • To enhance the welfare and progress of members, childern and the less privileged in ourmidst and the Society in general.
  • To ensure the maintenance of high moral standards of members within the Archdiocese.Feeding Hungry People
  • To work in tandem with the other women Organisation within and outside the Archdiocese with a view to fostering unity, economic, political and social well-being of women.
  • To do such other things as are necessary and conducive for the achievement of the above aims and objectives of the Organisation within the limits of the Catholic doctrine and the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

BRIEF HISTORY:

The Catholic Women Organization Abuja Archdiocese, CWOAA, was formed when Abuja was an independent Mission in 1984, during the launch of the Missionary Society of St. Paul Seminary Gwagwalada under the Leadership of chief Mrs. Ebele Lilian Okoye, the then NCCWO President. The Independent Mission had late Cardinal Dominic Ekandem as the Ecclesiastical Superior and later Bishop.

The Abuja Archdiocese CWO had Rev. Fr. Dr. Willy Ojukwu as the first Chaplain and Rev. Sr. Theresa Nwanruo as the Sister Adviser, may thier souls rest in peace Amen. Other Clergy that worked closely with the Archdiocesan Catholic Women Organisation, (ADCWO) now CWOAA was late Monsignor Inyany, Rev. Fr. (Dr.) Innocent Jooji presently of St. Luke, Kubwa tirelessly towards the growth of CWO in Abuja.

Our Mission

The Organisation is to rally and motivate members to utilize and harness their energy and resources for evangelisation and transformation of society but fulfilling their roles in the family (Domestic Church). Church and society in the footsteps of Mary the Mother of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Who We Are

The Catholic Women Organization Abuja Archdiocese is an umbrella body for all Catholic Women in the Abuja Archdiocese. We serve as medium of unifying all Catholic Women in one purpose of evangelization and spreading the love of Christ through service to God and humanity.
